A workshop is an immersive experience and thus, so much more than a traditional floral design class. I'm incredibly fortunate to host group workshops at Jardin de Buis, in Califon NJ, the orangeries and landscape are inherently inspiring and fuel our passion to create beauty with the flowers on offer. Whether in a group setting or private 1 to 1 mentoring, students are encouraged to arrived with questions as this is your time to learn and explore. I am passionate about supporting my local flower farming community and a more sustainable floristry industry, so my workshops focus on designing with, and feature local New Jersey and USA grown flowers.
I truly love sharing my passion for floral design and I encourage participants to see flowers in ways they had not thought to see them before-as if each bloom in the design is a brush stroke in a painting and with each design, we are creating art. My approach to teaching is to share my design process, my thoughts and approach to color, texture and shape, volume and negative space. It's not formulaic or prescriptive.
I see floral design as an artful expression beyond flowers in a vase, and while I'm not focused on formulas or basic principals, that doesn't exclude anyone, even novice designers from attending a workshop, anyone with a passion for flowers is encouraged to attend and all questions are welcomed.

Terms & Conditions that apply to the sale of group and private 1:1 mentoring workshops:
1. TJ McGrath Design is a small company and sadly is unable to offer refunds or alternative dates of Workshop bookings should you need to cancel your reservation for any reason. Planing a workshop that is also an immersive experience is long and detailed process leading up to the date, we kindly ask that you confirm all of the logistics for attending to avoid needing to cancel for any reason. TJ McGrath Design cannot be held liable to situations beyond it's control, including to but not limited to inclement weather, acts of God, federal and local states of emergency. TJ Mcgrath Design cannot be held responsible for any of loss of additional expenses such as travel/lodging should you need to cancel.
2. Included in your purchase are all the tools and blooms necessary for the designs we are creating unless otherwise stated in the course description. A small gallery of images from the day will be emailed and are yours to use as you like, for marketing and social media purposes but not for resale in any format. It is understood unless otherwise stated by you prior, that TJ McGrath design and the chosen photographer have the right to use all images in marketing and social media.
